State GOP pressuring local party

UNHAPPY WITH THE performance of Philadelphia’s Republican organization, state GOP leaders are funding an effort to rebuild the local party, possibly threatening the longtime leadership of the Meehan family.
The state party has hired Al Schmidt, the Republican candidate for city controller last year, as a “senior adviser” in Philadelphia with a broad charge to recruit new committee members, develop candidates and weigh in on local issues as a party spokesman.
The move could lead to some rare intraparty skirmishing this year, as Republicans elect new committee members in the May 18 primary. Subsequently, the committee members elect ward leaders and the ward leaders choose the party’s leadership.

Now is the time for all good people to come to the aid of their party

As you may, or may not know, committeemen elections are coming up for the spring. To be able to run you must get the 10 signatures of registured republicans in your votin division between February 16 and March 6 to get on the ballot. So now is the time to prepare. In our last cycle, the Republician Party, filled less than a third of the Committeeman positions in Philadelphia, and we’ve been paying for it ever since. So if you care to have change in our city then you are someone who should become a Committee person. If you hold an elective party office, then that is a good stepping stone to run for public office. So if you or anyone else is intrested, contact me at macam@ccplaw.com or call me at (215)735-1060
